The Urban Voices Project Performance Choir is a non-audition choir composed of artists, performers, and advocates from Skid Row, the epicenter of the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. The UVP Performance Choir meets weekly for rehearsals and vocal instruction. Throughout the year, the UVP Performance Choir performs for audiences across Los Angeles county, raising awareness on the conditions of homelessness (including mental health and socio-economic inequities) and sharing the healing power of music. The choir’s performances showcase both the individual stories of the ensemble and a collective voice on experiences of homelessness.

UVP’s emphasis on collective music-making in a safe, supportive space allows people like me to experience deep connections that foster both healing and growth, empowering us to not just recover, but truly thrive.
